Hippie - Adoption Pending!
Pretty Hippie came to our rescue when her 80 year old owner fell and (ironically) broke her hip. This purebred Golden Retriever is everything you would want - sweet, affectionate, and eager to please. Unfortunately, this pup, a gift from her children, did not get much training from her former mom as this exuberant puppy was clearly a little too much for this elderly woman. But with a little fine-tuning, Hippie will become a WONDERFUL companion!
Hippie is about 6 months old and currently weighs about 40 lbs. We figure she will weigh about 55-60 lbs when full grown. She loves other dogs and would probably be fine with cats. She enjoys toys and does not chew them up. On Hippie's wish-list is a fenced-in backyard where she can burn off energy and play fetch while she and her adopter are working on leash-walking skills. If you are an active individual, couple, or family and you're looking for someone to join in the fun, Hippie is your girl.
Hippie will be micro-chipped and given puppy vaccinations. She is heartworm negative and received a Proheart 6 injection so she will not need any additional heartworm preventative for 6 months. Adopters must commit to the spaying or neutering of their adopted pup when it reaches 1 year of age, or as your veterinarian recommends, and must
provide proof of neutering/spaying to SGRR.
Rescued dogs come with a range of needs - from behavioral to emotional to medical. When approved applicants adopt such dogs, they agree to continue the rehabilitation we have begun.
