Happy Tails - 2019
Phoebe
Happily Adopted!
Just wanted to update you on Phoebe's transition to her new home. She is such a sweet girl and we are so lucky that she came to us from a great home. She has wonderful manners and is just a pleasure. She has fit in nicely with our boy, Benny. She loves to play with him. They chase each other, steal each other's toys and wrestle...and then they nap. She's sleeping each night in the open living area. She sleeps near the French door to the family room where Benny sleeps. We've been keeping up with her meds and are happy to report that she hasn't had a seizure since we brought her home. We've had a little trouble with getting her to walk on a leash, but will work with her to progress in that area. She is loving going out in the backyard with her toys and rolling around in the snow/ice. She reminds me of my first golden,Fenway, who would drop her toy and roll all over it. Phoebe does the same thing. I'm happy with how she is assimilating to her new surroundings and hope that she loves being here as much as we love having her. We celebrated her birthday at midnight last night with a small group of friends. She was well loved by all. Here’s a picture of her with her party hat.
Thank you for choosing us as her forever home. We are very grateful. I’m sad to go back to work tomorrow and leave her behind. But I've got to support my dog habit :) ~ Karin, Tony, Taylor, Jakoby, Benny and Phoebe too!

Nessy
Happily Adopted in the South!
Nessy had lived with her former family for the past 3 years. With the mom now working full-time, she did not feel Nessy was getting what she needed. She is good with kids, good with dogs, tolerant of cats, and beautiful to boot - this girl has it all! SGRR promised Nessy that we would find her a wonderful forever home. And we did!

Lou
Happily Adopted!
First, and foremost, thank you for allowing us to provide Lou, now Finn, with a new home. We have already fallen for him! After some hellos in the house, we went outside for play. He is going to be tough to wear out! We played fetch and checked out the back yard for almost an hour. He started out with a 20 foot lead which I eventually took off. Absolutely no difference in his behavior with and without the lead. He was interested only in getting the balls, bringing them back, and then chasing them down again. Once inside he checked out the house but stuck close to his new family. I'm not sure he even noticed the Christmas tree.
I don't think he's ever been on a leash. At least he's not been taught how to walk on a leash. We've already started working on that in the yard with a harness and regular lead. He's shown immense improvement already. He's never been up a set of stairs. He literally crawled up the stairs on his belly to check out the bonus room; I don't think he had many, if any, indoor toys. He seems unsure about playing in the house. Same with his bed as he seems completely unsure what to do with it; Perhaps most importantly, he seems like a very smart dog who is willing to learn. I have no doubt he is a great - and very handsome - dog who just needs a home that will allow him to shine. Finn seems to be extremely happy to be at his new home. There has been nonstop tail wagging and plenty of dog kisses. He has begun to settle down for longer stretches of time and right now is lying down behind me. All in all, not bad for a first day. ~ David & Cathy

Barley
Happily Adopted!
Barley did great her first night. I think she was exhausted from the stress of a new place and we went for a long walk when we got home yesterday. She fell asleep around 8pm and I had to wake her up to go for a final walk. After that she slept all through the night. She seems to be settling in perfectly. We’re lucky to have her. She can’t seem to get enough walks in. It’s only 11:30am and we already went for 2 long walks. I think if I picked up the leash again she would be at the door ready to go. She sure has a lot of energy for an 11 year old. We’re still getting to know her likes and dislikes. She is so sweet. She seems to be content just sitting next to you.~ Kathryn and Mike

Kain

Kain, now Fenway, did great on the car ride home. He ate well and walked well. He's still settling into the new environment and he loves the crate. He is just such a sweet love. Its so funny how similar he and our other dog, Brady (fka Thor), look alike. ~ Meghan and Nancy

Lilly
Happily Adopted!
Lilly is just amazing - what a precious little peanut and we love her to pieces already. She did fabulous her first night and it's only going to get better from here. She got along well with her siblings, has a healthy appetite and slept through the night. She was actually smiling yesterday when checking out her new home and is just fascinated by the cat. We can't thank you enough for making this happen for us - she's already been a great addition to our family and it hasn't even been 24 hours. We can't wait to see what she looks like in 6 months. Many thanks.

Tootie
Happily Adopted!
I knew that Lucie was a calm, sweet, gentle puppy, but I am truly stunned by
how easy and well-behaved she is. She settles easily, lying near me wherever
I am. She is eager to play, and lets me know when she needs to go out. It feels
so wonderful to have her living with me. I am thrilled beyond words. ~ Barbara

Snoopy
Happily Adopted!
Snoopy is now Cooper. He was very friendly when he met us and he was a perfect passenger on our 2+ hour ride home. He’s exploring in his new home and checking things out. He has even ventured into his crate (door left open). We need to keep an eye on him, as he likes to chew and has already found some clothing. He is very happy and walks well. We have done some long walks in our neighborhood, including a wooded trail that he thoroughly enjoyed. He is doing well!

Our resident dog, Oscar Madison, and his new brother, Felix Unger,
formerly known as Shadow, are already best friends. He is such a joy
and they are happy brothers. The kindness that I have gotten from
all of you has been so appreciated. Thank you for everything and
everyone that made it possible for Shadow to become my boy! God
truly placed Shadow in our lives at the right time and we are truly blessed.

Ace
Happily Adopted!
Every day Ace gets better and more comfortable around us. He has finally stopped pacing and has learned to relax around everyone. He wears his new weight vest/backpack beautifully on walks and it really does help to wear him out a bit. He is learning "wait" and doing really well. He can now sit & wait politely for his food, he also "waits" before leaving/entering the house. Right now he is out playing in the backyard with Roxy and "helping" my husband Kerry with yard work. Overall, I think he has made BIG improvements over the last week and especially over the last couple of days. ~Shannon & Kerry

We just fell in love with Sam! He's beautiful and we are so lucky. Everything
went so well. He's so good and loves his yard. He runs all over and he has plenty
of room. He seems very comfortable and has not had an accident in the house.
He lets you know when he needs to go out. He's just wonderful! Thank you so much! ~ Ron & Sally

Adina
Happily Adopted!
Adina arrived to her adopter very sick. She was fine when she was in the south so we don't exactly what happened, but the important thing is she is feeling so much better now! Bella (FKA Adina)
had her follow up today. She is like a different dog. No more temperature. She's eating treats
now and dry food. She runs after Taz outside and they sleep together on the couch. Her vet was extremely happy. She has another follow up next Tues as he wants to wean her slowly off the steroids. The swelling in her front leg joint has gone down too. I have not heard her bark yet.
I think that's a good thing since Taz does enough for both of them. So it's all good and hopefully it
stays that way. Thanks again for everything! ~ Linda

I do believe Kadie has found her forever home❤️. She such a sweet dog. Kadie and
Max started out shaky but now they are very fond of each other. Whew! ..... I also recently fenced in my stone wall area because I did not want to take any chances
with her. It’s a game changer. Thank you all, for what you do for these wonderful
dogs. ~ Lori

Brees
Happily Adopted!
Brees is doing so well! She loves her doggie, kitty and human siblings. Our younger dog, Russell, has been playing with her non-stop. We have been on a few walks through the neighborhood and she has loved the other dogs and people she has met. She didn’t make a sound in her crate last night and is doing very well with housebreaking - no accidents so far! In addition to being cute and sweet, she is also very smart. We taught her to sit and lie down already. She is a very happy girl who is always smiling and wagging her tail. We also decided to change her name to Ellie. The Patriots fans in the family said we couldn’t name her after someone who has more all-time passing yards than Brady. Thank you for bringing her into our lives. We are so lucky to have her in our

on the porch earlier, and we are taking short walks. She loves her bed! It was
love at first sight for me. She’s such a sweet dog. I’m so grateful — thank you
for trusting me. ~ Liz

Devon
Happily Adopted!
She got a clean bill of health at the vet -- and she was admired by all the people she met there! Every day she seems more comfortable and settled in, like knowing the routine for things like breakfast, dinner, and bedtime. She loves going for walks around the neighborhood and gets excited anytime someone picks up her leash. She plays tug of war and enjoys her toys too. We've decided to rename her Dixie. She's such a sweet dog who's wonderful to have around. ~ Sara

Bella
Happily Adopted!
Bella is doing very well! She was a little shy coming in, as expected, but she is currently fast asleep next to me on the couch! Her vet visit went well; she got a Lyme booster to catch her up on shots. Other than that she’s perfectly healthy! She’s not a fan of the crate but she has settled
in very nicely. Lastly, since she really wasn’t responding to Bella my fiancé and I decided to change her name to Aurora! ~ Jessica & Stephen

Copper
Happily Adopted!
Copper is officially now Gus and we are so thrilled!! We had a very successful (and tiring!) first week together. We are learning so much about each other. He loves being outside and going on runs around Back Cove, and he will do just about anything for a belly rub. He LOVED the hose when we gave him a bath and he loved the brushing that followed even more. We are so in love with our new furry family member and, judging by all the tail wagging, we think the feelings are mutual! He has a lot of work to do, but we're working hard on training every day. He really responds well to praise and affection as rewards. And of course, a good peanut butter kong for a really big task like being quiet in the crate at night. He's doing great so far. As long as we've done enough exercise with him he is a really, really good boy. The more we learn about him the more we're able to speak his language and vice versa. Thank you for ALL your help in making this happen!!! I hope you can meet him someday! ~ Ariel & Bram

Imogene
Happily Adopted!
Emmy is eating well and even enjoying a chew bone on her bed! She sees our sheep when she is in the yard, and the chickens, and doesn’t seem interested. One of our cats is trying to be her friend and she is not very interested in her either. That is actually all good. She was interested in some white-tail deer—her ears perked right up. She just came in from a big walk with Alan She is slow but great on the leash. She met some neighbors and one dog. She is cautious and leaned against Alan for security. She is figuring it all out. ~ Jenny & Alan

Minnie
Happily Adopted!
Sweet Minnie was adopted by a couple who met her while foster mom Nancy was visiting her daughter in ME. Despite Minnie's health situation, they fell in love and committed to giving her a forever home. It was one of those situations that was truly meant to be. Here is the link to Minnie's bio if you are not familiar with her story. Thank you Nancy & Eric for seeing to Minnie's needs! http://sunshinegoldenrescue.com/minnie.html
Minnie, now Annie, was great in the car . She is settling in so well. She had a quiet first night, a good morning walk and a fun wrestle with Ellie. Minnie has had so many vet appointments, there were no surprises at her vet appt. She and our dog, Ellie, are having a fun time with gentle wrestling and good long walks. We love her and so does everyone else! ~ Susan & Ron

Hope
Happily Adopted!
Hope is a very sweet girl but she is truly a handful; she has become great overnight but she needs lots of attention during the daytime and never seems to run out of energy. She has
great mobility and her left leg seems to be working fine. She runs all over on the long leash
with no limitations. In the afternoon, she goes with me to clean the pastures, attached to my belt loop by her leash. She has learned to sit when I tell her to look at me and to sit -
she is a smart girl. I really do think she will become a great dog!!! :-) ~ Ellen & Bill

Chico
Happily Adopted!
Chico is one amazing boy! He is settling in quickly and fitting in with our family perfectly! He seems to like having 2 sisters and Mandi and Dixie are very accepting of a new brother. Chico is fascinated by our cat Nala, who at 16 years old is very dog savvy and knows just how to act around a new pup He shows no sign of wanting to chase or hurt Nala, but loves to follow her around the house. He is eating great and sleeping pretty good overnight. We have found that Chico loves to run and go on walks/jogs! Chico may only have 3 legs, but that is not slowing him down one bit! When running around in the yard, he actually ran faster than Dixie! Last night, he
did a handstand! He wanted to pee on a tree and wasn't on the right side so he lifted the leg by standing just on his front legs! I can’t thank SGRR enough for saving this sweet boy from the shelter and fixing him all up. But most of all thank you for allowing him to be our boy! ~Dawn, Mike & Dan

We picked up Missie today from her foster family. She is pooped - long day for her. She is

Costa
Happily Adopted!
Buddy (fka Costa) is adjusting well to his new home. He follows me wherever I go. He is great with my grandsons and friendly with friends and family. This weeks discovery: he doesn’t like the garbage trucks, and really wants to get the chipmunks. I have him on the leash just learning his limits on my property with invisible fencing. Seems the didn’t get much leash walking so we are doing a lot of that. Each day he improves. His appetite is good, sleeps through the night and no accidents in the house. I am very happy I found him! Thank you so much for all your help in bringing this sweet dog into my life! ~ Judi

Tailer
Happily Adopted!
Today marks Oliver’s (AKA Tailer) first two weeks! We are making great progress. He still
needs to listen to his older sisters, Kate and Allie, a little more carefully but that is improving
on a daily basis! He has been going on mile + runs with Aunt Julie and walks with me! Oliver
enjoys playing in the backyard and getting treats for being a good listener. He loves mealtime
but knows that his sisters get their bowls first! His crate is his safe place and he has some deep naps! ~ Beth

Grizzly
Happily Adopted!
Doing OK here, albeit a bit sleep deprived. Oliver (FKA Grizzly) is doing really well - no accidents yesterday! He's a bit mouthy - he loves to nip, so Shane is going to look into doing some training with him. We are redirecting and trying different techniques, and of course we know that he will grow out of it (although you need to be careful because if you turn your back on him he bites you in the butt and it hurts). The "big kids" are tolerating him. They have started to bond over digging in a big dirt pile in the backyard. Or at least, they will stay in the same space as him for more than a second. He adores Molly and follows her everywhere when they are outside. I've noticed a couple of tail wags on her part - he actually laid down next to her last night on one of the dog beds and I counted to three before she moved...so...progress. As tiring as it is, it's very clear that this is where he was meant to be. When he is not being "Captain Chaos" he is such a lovebug and loves cuddling and having his belly rubbed. I think with time, he'll fit right in. ~ Jess and Shane

Sugar
Happily Adopted!
Sugar, now Sonam (meaning beautiful; Gold; made of gold; Intelligent; Brave and Gifted), is quite independent since she doesn't like to be helped. She wants to figure out stuff herself. I think she has never been in a house, she got scared by the TV, did not know how to do stairs and is a pacer. She is curious about everything and follows me around in the house, however, she prefers to be outside and I have to restrict the time she is outdoors since she trots around in the yard while she is supposed to rest. She tried to come upstairs where the bedrooms are and got stuck almost at the top and froze. I helped her with the remaining stairs and she let me reluctantly help her. This morning she tried to come down but only made it to the 3rd step from the top and froze. I tried the cookies on every step and she only made it to the third from the top. So I left her to figure it out by herself sensing that I was in the way and she did, without taking the rest of the cookies since they made it more difficult for her. She is now the stair master. She loves going up and down the stairs. Sonam is extremely food oriented and hungry all the time. She is trying very hard to please Kali and gives her kisses and is trying to engage her in playing. Unfortunately Kali is slow to warm up to her and even growled at her. So I will have to engage a private trainer to help sort out some behavior. I think Sonam wants to be the dominant one and she does it in a very sweet way except the growling part. Sonam has adapted pretty well and will learn fast now that she is safe. She is very cuddly when she wants and I am thrilled to have such a cuddly companion. ~ Heike

Spice
Happily Adopted!
Spice, now Lizzy, is definitely much more comfy at our house and in the mix. She
started nibbling at us and our blankets, but took to chewing on toys instead well.
She is wanting to play & super snuggle more! She's getting good walking skills
down (following her sister, Duffy) and staying in her crate extremely well at night!
Such a sweet sweet girl. She does drop to the floor if there is a loud noise or somebody new - which just breaks our hearts -but she responds well to positive reinforcement and petting to get more comfortable at those times. She’s perfect- thank you, thank you!!!!! ~ Jean & Jennifer

She is a sweetheart for sure! We’re loving having her here. My two daughters and

Murray
Happily Adopted!
Murray is doing well! He has been rambling around the house and yard
exploring. He is very laid back. My daughter-in-law came in to meet him
and he wagged his tail to greet her. He liked it when she sat next to him
while he ate his breakfast, and then he followed her around the yard. His
first night he had no trouble jumping on the couch to sit with me, and last
night slept next to my bed. He’s such a nice boy. ~ Norma

Emma
Happily Adopted!
OK we had a nap and everyone was hungry when we awoke. We had dinner and
Emma ate hers. She asked for extras! She follows me or Apache everywhere.
Then we settled in for a quiet Friday night. On Saturday we opened the backyard pool and Emma doggie paddled in it. Apache has been incredibly welcoming and Emma has been very attentive to her - following her lead! ~ Karen

Kaya & Nova
Happily Adopted!
Kaya & Nova are now Izzy & Zara. They are adapting to their new home very well.
They are sweet, energetic and a hand-full. This week's celebration is that they have been evaluated for training school and have been properly fitted for no-pull harnesses. They won't start official training for another three weeks which the trainer has told me will give them more time to acclimate to their new home, practice using the no-pull harness and continue to establish a routine. The trainers who evaluated them both were very excited saying that they are smart, eager and will no doubt take very quickly to training.
Overall they are doing very well and I suspect a great deal of that is due to their foster family who took them in giving them love and a feeling of security. On a lighter note this week's casualties have been 3 "rough & tough" toys and the canvas cover for their crate bed. Good thing Amazon and Chewy have next day delivery. ~ Sally

Windy
Happily Adopted!
She’s an absolute angel!! We adore her. Nancy and Cheryl have been amazing caretakers and advisers. She jumped right in the car and snoozed right away... and seems to love balls most of all the toys so far! She is easygoing, curious and happy. Don’t want to count any chickens because I understand these transitions can take some time but she is just so sweet and dear. Mark has been giving her a ton of belly scratches and she just leans right into him. She loves saying hi to everyone she passes - people and dogs. Everyone adores her and she's been very gentle. She's getting used to her spaces and doesn't react to the neighborhood sounds as much anymore. She does get sad when one of us leaves ... she lays by the door and breathes really hard. :( We tested leaving her alone for 20 minutes yesterday; she didn't destroy anything but she did get very anxious and took her a while to calm down when we got back. We went for a very long walk in advance to tire her out and then gave her a Kong with peanut butter when we left but she didn't eat it. Thank you so much for everything!! She's sooo sweet and we love her so much! ~ Mary Kate & Mark

Max
Happily Adopted!
Wow! You must be good at matching adopters with dogs. We had a great day with Max. From the transporter to Nancy in the beginning, to a couple of good walks and good meals, to having Max hang out on the couch with his head in my lap....there is so much good here. He is very handsome! I have always wanted a blondie but have always had dark goldens; he is my blondie.
I have always admired the smaller goldens and he is smaller. We have some work to do - like getting him to respond to his name when called, and some work with him being gentler with the elderly Baxter, but all this will fall into place. We love him already. Thank you. We are very happy! ~ Steve & Jan

Duke
Happily Adopted!
Duke has found his final home. Words can't describe how quickly he has adapted to his role of head of household, senior tree climber, and bird watcher. His social skills are unbelievable - he is very gentle with toddlers and avoids cats, while he can play with the biggest dogs. Not to mention he is so darn cute. I have a new family member and consider him part of the family. Thank you to SGRR for putting us together. This was love at first sight! ~ Bob C.

Charlie
Happily Adopted!
Charlie is an absolute love! He is so sweet! He is really starting to settle in nicely. He starts his day with a morning drive to our daughter's high school. He gets so excited to ride in the car. He spins around in circles. After the car ride, he goes for a walk. Then back home for breakfast. He loves exploring the yard with Sandy. They are getting along very well. In the afternoon, Olivia takes him for a long walk. In the evening he enjoys snuggles and cuddles from all of us. ~ Eileen & Rick

Chablis
Happily Adopted!
We have been so busy loving on Chablis (now Ellie! She is adjusting well to city life
and we have had someone with her 24/7 since she has come home, to help facilitate
he acclimation process. We had her first vet appointment the day after she arrived
and she is now up to date on everything. In just two days she knows her name, sit,
and we are working on stay. She seems to have some separation anxiety (which
we expected) but we are diligently working to help her through it. We are so in love
and couldn't be happier! ~ Ryan & Katie

Blondie
Happily Adopted!
She's doing great! She's very eager to meet everyone she sees and wins them
over with both her cuteness and her personality. She is very loving and likes
nothing more than to be nearby - or preferably, asleep on my feet. She seems to mirror energy levels very well - excited to play, but also very happy to just chill. She's been quiet when left alone, just whining for a few minutes. And (knock on wood) she's been perfect with house training. She's definitely excited to see a leash, but we're working on walking on one (she tends to go in circles). I did learn that in addition to climbing fences (I haven't given her the chance to do that), she can jump 4-foot walls/fences. We were walking past a wall and suddenly we were eye level! Also, she can be timid/skittish around loud noises or strange men - she seems more comfortable with women, although she warms up quickly. We went away this past weekend and got out of the
city. She traveled well in the car. Thanks for sending her my way! ~ William

Happily Adopted!
Things are going well. I took Monday and Tuesday off from work to be with both Chance
and Toffee as they build their relationship. So far, they seem good. Tomorrow, I will be
back to work and plan on keeping Toffee separated from Chance - just in case. It's
hard not to love her! ~ Linda

Chance
Happily Adopted!
Chance did great this weekend with the family! He was very quiet and stuck right with me at
all times, but he was so sweet as he always is. He is definitely at his happiest outside so we
went outside often which he liked. He looks so carefree and happy when he's outside! The
great news is he has started eating much better the last couple of days! It’s so good to see
him finish his meals! I think he realizes he's home now! I definitely saw a change in him
towards the end of last week. I think once I decided I wanted to adopt him he could probably
feel the shift and knew he was 'home'. I think having a big sis is helping him too. Just now
I had a repairman come to the house, a super nice guy, and Chance was very wary of him.
Then Lexi trotted into the room and right up to the man, all happy, and Chance totally followed her with much less worry. So that was great! ~ Christine

Aristotle & Annie
Happily Adopted!
Aristotle is a relaxed cool dude. He is sweet, gentle and is bonded to Annie, like glue. He loves giving kisses and his favorite toys are shoes and slippers! (He doesn’t like the
squeaky toys.) If I can’t find my shoes, I know he’s stashed them somewhere. He has
a little bit of a stubborn streak, but he’s learning the routine. We changed his name to
Harley, which suits his character. His favorite spot is the couch; where he can chill and
watch TV. Animal Planet is his favorite show. Annie is as sweet as can be and her favorite toy is a white stuffed lamb. She is my Velcro girl. She’s always following or looking for
meand when she sees me, she does this adorable prance. This melts my heart. She’s not one to give kisses, but she loves getting them! Both Harley and Annie like to lounge in the lake, take walks in the woods and play with Katie (the yellow lab who lives next door). They are a perfect addition to our family. We look forward to taking them on vacations and day trips. They’re getting used to car rides-although Annie wants to be in the driver’s seat, but has settled for the back seat as long as the window is slightly open. Thank you for bringing these beautiful pups into our lives. We love them so much! (I’m fairly certain-the feeling is mutual.) ~Susan & Phil

Ellie
Happily Adopted!
Ellie is definitely home and loving every moment! She is a super sweet dog and she loves getting attention, especially a belly rub. Tomorrow she will visit our vet for her
checkup. Ellie is getting lots of walking in, and has sniffed out just about every nook
and cranny of our road. She is eating and sleeping well, and gets up early to see
what I’m doing! She has the best “happy doggie dance “ when we come in the door.
We are looking forward to many good years of loving her! ~ Donna

and cranny of our road. She is eating and sleeping well, and gets up early to see
what I’m doing! She has the best “happy doggie dance “ when we come in the door.
We are looking forward to many good years of loving her! ~ Donna
Garrett
Happily Adopted!
What a beautiful boy! He has settled right in... Met the four grandchildren... Watched
TV with Fiona. Kisses for all - he has even given Seamus kisses and Seamus likes it.
Seamus is happy to be his big brother! Personality plus! Likes his walks. Meal times
are a favorite. Garrett slept in between Jim and I last night - Seamus at our feet. He's
doing well with bathroom breaks. He make little noises when you give him lovin' - so cute!
He is a little peanut of a guy - Seamus is happy to be his big brother! Personality plus!
This is the fourth time we have adopted from SGRR and we couldn't be happier! ~Vicki & Jim

Todd
Happily Adopted!
We are incredibly happy and feel so privileged Todd is joining our family 💕 We adore
him ❤️ We took him on a walk about an hour ago and met our neighbors out for a walk
too. He is so happy meeting everyone around here and leans in for hugs and to be petted.
Todd (now Teddy) and Harley (little brother) are doing great and got to bond on the walk. :)
Jazzy (our senior Golden) seems totally happy and relaxed. I think his favorite spot is in
our 17 yr old's room - she has a fuzzy rug and the two of them seem inseparable :) He is
absolutely the loveliest sweet dog:). Thank you, Kathy, for such a wonderful meet and greet
and all of your lovely care for this incredible boy. His tail is wagging and he has a sweet
beautiful smile! ~ Lisbet and Sam

Well she is all you said and more. She has slept through the nights (Dean of course
has slept on the couch). She lets us know when she needs to go out and loves her
belly rubs and getting brushed. Good thing she likes the snow too. She likes it when
I play music and comes between my legs and we rock to the beat. We moved her bed
to the back slider so she could look out the window and she let us know that she wanted
it back to the original spot so she can see all the comings and goings of the whole house.
Good for her!!! How sad are those early pictures and how much she has changed and
healed in a short time. She will never know hurt, hunger or fear again. ~ Lorna and Dean

She loves her dog bed and slept soundly all night. This morning she slept in late
so I brought her breakfast and water to her and she ate from her bed! She puts
her head in my lap, and is affectionate. I took her in the car with me while I got
lunch, and she was very good. She does insist on sitting in my easy chair and
I’m trying to teach her to use a different spot. We are doing really well and
we’re thoroughly bonded after just one day, as we get to know each other. ~ Don

Happily Adopted!
We have been calling him Archie, and I am pretty sure that is going to stick. He is so
sweet! When we brought him home we took the two dogs for a walk, and then into the
house, where they coexisted nicely for hours, and ran laps around the yard together.
Wilson (our 2 year old dog), was very easygoing, even when Archie took a treat right out
of Wilsons mouth. But, we did have one scuffle last night that made us back up and
keep leashes on both dogs just as a precaution. I know that the process of everyone
establishing their role is necessary, but I still feel we need to be cautious and take it slow.
Right now they are both napping after taking a walk. He has eaten great, no accidents, slept
in his crate all night, and seems to be getting more and more comfortable here. He definitely is a puppy still!

Happily Adopted!
Huxley came over and when he met Kasia it was like they already knew each
other and they were so excited to see each other again. When we got Kasia
from Sunshine, she took a couple of weeks to settle in but Huck has already
made himself at home. Thank you Sunshine again! We better make the
calendar this year!!! ~ Ryan & Petra

Oh yes, everything is wonderful! She is running around right now with a squeaky
ball! She is such a sweetheart! Only issue is she is still a little apprehensive of
my husband and 16 year old son – so suspect something about men in her
background. We are working on it - today she and I waited by the front door
for my son to come home from school trying to make it a happy fun thing – he
gave her treats and we sat on his bed in his room while he was doing homework
trying to make her feel safe and comfortable with him… will continue and suspect
will get better in the next few days. But she is eating well, and pooping, and
playing – and slept last night like a charm! She knows sit, down, and we are
working on knowing her name and "get your ball." When she gets her ball, she is very proud of herself! She is a
treasure! ~ Amy & Todd

It was a match made in heaven! Amazing - she’s already comfortable here!
No nervousness at all :) She absolutely loves our current Pop they are literally
twins! She is doing great and learning how to be the 'big sister' instead of
the little sister. I think she's enjoying being the boss - lol. We definitely hit the
jackpot! We could not be happier to have her join our family!

Harriet
Happily Adopted!
Harriet is doing very well. She saw the vet today and he said she looks
good. She even played with her brother dog yesterday evening, which
was the first time she felt up to playing. She really is a lovely dog and
we are so happy. She loves her fur brother and her human brothers.
She is loving all the places to cuddle up and the new yard.

Lola
Happily Adopted!
We’re so happy to have Lola, she’s a real sweetheart. She’s good at night,
settles down beside our bed. We passed a big hurdle yesterday with her playing
well with a friend’s golden. We went for a walk and then they played together in
our yard, no problems at all other than the jumping up! Lola definitely needs
training for jumping up on people, but she’s asleep on the couch right now next
to me and I think she’s feeling very happy and content. Thank you for all the
good work you do! ~ Janet & Rick
