Finn
When an owner goes to jail, their dog often ends up in a local animal shelter facing potential euthanasia if no one claims them within a set time-frame (often around 7-10 days). Fortunately for Finn, our rescue was contacted and now it’s time for Finnie to find his forever home.
This sweet and spirited 1-2 year old pup loves to retrieve (check out this video!) and has a favorite soft toy that he immediately seeks out when he goes outside to the play yard. Heather, our volunteer, told us that Finn retrieved that special toy at least 20 times today when she was at the kennel to play with him. Heather shares, “He was a little timid initially but is a wiggle-butt and when he gets excited that tail just wags and wags! We worked on dropping a toy on command so I can throw it again and again! Finnie has a gentle mouth with treats and I especially love giving them to him! And he appreciates them very much!“
Finnie is believed to be a Lab mix and definitely has the retrieving gene in his DNA! Finn loves being petted when he is holding a toy in his mouth and scooches real close to his human friend. He is SUPER affectionate and enjoys cuddling.
Because Finn came to us with very little manners, we sent him to training class and he was a stellar student! Just watch how well Finn walks with his trainer in this video! Finn has learned that a leash means fun and walk time, and he has mastered all of his commands. He is a candidate for CGC certification once he is adopted!! Now how many rescue dogs come with that perk! Not many!! :-) We envision Finn with a confident leader who will continue to work with him and keep him sharp. Finnie's trainer will be available post-adoption to consult with and assist with his transition into his new home. Because Finn is not real keen on other dogs, we will seek a home for him where he can be his human's one and only. This is a wonderful dog who simply needed someone to take him under their wings and assist him in becoming the delightful companion he was meant to be! In return for a loving home, warm place to lay his head, and toys to fetch, Finnie promises to give his adopter his unconditional love – isn’t that all we could ever ask for?
Finnie is up-to-date on vaccinations, micro-chipped, heartworm negative, and neutered. If you are approved to adopt through SGRR, please contact Cheryl to be considered to adopt fabulous Finn. If you are not yet approved, please visit our website to fill out an application! He will be ready to come North in early August.
Rescued dogs come with a range of needs - from behavioral to emotional to medical. When approved applicants adopt such dogs, they agree to continue the rehabilitation we have begun.
