Dude
Sometimes life changes in ways no one could ever expect. Dude is a sweet and handsome yellow Lab mix who lost his owner, and sadly, his extended family is unable to keep him. Through absolutely no fault of his own, this loving boy has gone from having a family to spending his days waiting for someone to give him another chance. At around 10 years old and 96 pounds, he still has plenty of life and love left to give, and he deserves nothing less than a loving home where he can finally feel like he belongs again.
Dude walks nicely on a leash, has a good activity level, and has no trouble navigating a few steps. He is house-trained and keeps his space clean. Dude loves being around people and gets excited whenever a visitor stops by. Dude seems to do well with other dogs; cats and children are unknown. He already knows the basic command “sit,” and we have a feeling he’d be happy to learn more with someone willing to spend the time with him. This sweet boy has a soft, creamy coat and a wonderful smile that you can see in his playful video. He has so much to offer and is just waiting for a loving forever home to call his own.
On Dude’s wish list is a secured, fenced-in yard and an owner who will take him out on leashed walks to explore. Dude is pretty special. He is healthy, mobile, house-trained, affectionate, and happy to see the people who take the time to visit him. Please consider giving this sweet boy the second chance he deserves.
Dude has been neutered, brought up-to-date on vaccinations, and micro-chipped. He has a small lump on his right front leg, but thankfully, it is benign. He will be starting heartworm treatment and should be ready to travel north to be directly adopted in early December. Dude has been given a Proheart-6 injection for 6 months of heartworm prevention.
If you have room in your heart for sweet Dude and you are approved to adopt through SGRR, please contact Mary to be considered. If you are not yet approved, visit our website to fill out an application!
Rescued dogs come with a range of needs - from behavioral to emotional to medical. When approved applicants adopt such dogs, they agree to continue the rehabilitation we have begun. This is what it means to rescue.
