How You Can Help
The rescue job can be difficult and time-consuming. While not everyone can (or should)
make the commitment to provide the full range of rescue services like providing foster care,
there are many ways you can help with the rescue cause.
Here are a few ideas:
- Call vets offices
- Phone interviews
- Home visits
- Post rescue flyers or business cards at vets offices, animal shelters, & pet supply stores
- Pick up dogs from shelters and transport them to the foster home or the vet
- Assist local rescuers with socializing and training rescued dogs
- Tell people about the Sunshine rescue program
- Make tax-deductible donations to the Sunshine Fund
- Donate food, medications, equipment and supplies
- Donate items for raffles, yard sales, Silent Auctions, etc
- Go with rescuers to "rescue days" at pet stores, pet expos, etc. to help publicize rescue and
talk to prospective adopters
- Organize or help with fund-raising events in your area
- Educate people about the importance of buying puppies only from reputable breeders
who observe the Code of Ethics
- Tell everyone you know never to buy puppies from casual breeders, pet stores or puppy
mills
- Tell people about the Sunshine rescue program and encourage them to adopt rescued dogs
- Post rescue flyers or business cards at vets offices, animal shelters, pet supply stores, and
other places dog lovers visit
